It’s time to turn to the ‘Son’! 🌻

“Is it silly if I say it like that?”
A bit unsure, the young man in this prayer circle looked at me and said, “While praying, I was reminded of a sunflower. Sunflowers always turn towards the sun and look magnificent and beautiful while doing so. And it felt like God was telling me that this also applies to all those who turn their gaze towards God.”
I didn’t find this thought silly at all, but very valuable! Because it’s true. It’s not as complicated as we often think, or make it.
Do you know what I realized after this prayer meeting? God wanted to encourage me before the next piece of bad news. On the way home, I received a phone call that completely shook me. You might know how it feels when you suddenly hear that a close friend has received a—humanly speaking—hopeless diagnosis…
Jehoshaphat and his men, whom we read about in the Old Testament, had just received a hopeless message too: “A vast army is coming against you from Edom, from the other side of the Dead Sea. It is already in Hazezon Tamar (that is, En Gedi).” (2 Chronicles 20:2 NIV).
No wonder we read at this point: “Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the LORD, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah.” (2 Chronicles 20:3 NIV)
But what did he do then? In that moment when he received this piece of bad news? Did he collapse and cry? No!
“Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” (2 Chronicles 20:12 NIV)
Do you see that? Like a sunflower—as long as it turns towards the sun—it shines in its full power and beauty. And Jehoshaphat did just that. He turned his eyes, turned his gaze, towards God! Yes, the Bible says: “Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the LORD…” (2 Chronicles 20:3 NIV)
Oh, let’s do that today! Amidst your worries. Amidst your questions. Amidst what scares you:
Turn your tear-filled eyes to the One who looks at you with love!
You are a miracle!
