When your problems multiply…

We all have problems and enemies. But what happens when those seem beyond something you can control?!

“Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for guidance. He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin fasting.” (2 Chronicles 20:3 from the NLT)

I love how it says here in one breath: “Jehoshaphat was afraid and prayed to the Lord.” Do you do the same when you find yourself in a tight spot? When everything becomes overwhelming?

Jehoshaphat must have felt much fear when he learned that he not only had a huge problem but three of them! The army of the Moabites had set out to fight against him, which would have been bad enough! But also the army of the Ammonites and some of the Meunites had joined in to fight against Jehoshaphat!

Sure, we can’t relate much to the names of these armies. But when I once camped in the desert, it was very impressive. There, I realized that you can indeed see from afar when such an army is approaching. And that’s quite scary! Because you can’t just run away without being seen. And if then three such armies are coming, oh my, oh my…

And maybe you’re feeling the same way right now. Not just one problem keeps you awake at night, but several! It all becomes too much for you! And you already see how the next problem is looming on the horizon.

“Jehoshaphat was afraid and prayed to the Lord.” (2 Chronicles 20:3 NIV) Ha, I just love this one sentence so much! Jehoshaphat was also afraid! But he immediately brought this great fear to his much greater God!

Bring your great fear to your much greater God!

Humanly speaking, Jehoshaphat had no chance! Three against one, that can’t end well! Humanly speaking, you also don’t stand a chance! But when you seek refuge in your God, you can expect the most incredible things! Miracles indeed!

Just like with Jehoshaphat, he emerged as victor! What happened? In the end, the opposing armies fought each other. Who would have expected that? (see 2 Chronicles 20:23-24 NKJV)

If you have a problem that is too much for you, God still has one more miracle for you!

You are a miracle!
